The AI shows up in three places. Inside design files, small tools handle chores: rename layers, remove an image background, write or translate placeholder copy, and search for similar designs. In FigJam, the whiteboard product, AI generates diagrams from text and sorts and summarizes sticky notes. And Figma Make turns a prompt or an existing design into a working, clickable prototype with real code behind it, the feature that changed what non-designers can do in the tool.
Make deserves the attention, with a caveat: what it produces is a convincing prototype, not production software. It is very good for showing an idea to stakeholders or user-testing a flow before engineering commits. Anyone who ships it as-is will learn why the engineers were skeptical.
